    Antivirus for Verdict?

    Hi. Has anyone installed an antivrius program on the verdict yet? I had Avast Pro on mine, and it seems to be causing issues with the software. Curious if anyone else had any problems/experiences with any antivirus programs.

    I haven't but will try today and let you know. I use AVG (the free version) on my Verus without any issue i will try it on my Verdict.

    What kind of issues are you experiencing with the Avast Pro?

      I have a problem with the vehicle module menu loading. I can succesfully connect to one vehicle, and then back out to main menu. Then when I try to connect to a different vehicle, I am able to build the vehicle, but then the Verdict just sits there with a blank screen. It never loads the menu to choose which module you want to work in. The only fix is to completely shut down and restart the tool. I uninstalled Avast, and that seems to have corrected the problem.

        What (free) anti-virus software is available for the Verdict?

        Somehow we got the Conficker Worm on ours, used Malwarebytes to remove it. Microsoft Essentials will not install because the OS is XPE and not supported.

        I was thinking either AVG or Avast and was looking for others feedback.

        Also, why is windows updates disabled?

            @randalpho

            I had Avast installed on mine and it was causing problems with the snapon software. It would lock up when attempting to switch vehicles, forcing restarts. I uninstalled Avast and the problems stopped. Also, I enabled windows updates since then and after installing updates, it seems to run better. I haven't tried Avast since then. Currently I don't have antivirus installed and just haven't be using the internet with it. You can enable Windows Updates, see this link. http://productforum.autorepairdata.c...indows+updates

            They are talking about a Versus, but it also worked for Verdict. Beware, it could cause problems, so do it at your own risk. I did mine and so far its been ok.

              I was advised by an "expert" not to enable windows update due to the O/S being an Embedded version of XP which means it's been customized and window updates can interfere with the platform/diagnostic software intent.

                Its possible that windows updates could cause problems. I turned it on in my Verdict and so far all has been ok, but it is a risk.

                I tried reinstalling Avast after running windows updates and it still causes problems with the snap on software. My advice is to not use avast on a Verdict.
