    GM 3.6L timing chain

Customer came in with 12 Impala that has a 3.6L and P0014/P0017 timing actuator codes with intermittent stall. I've never been into the timing components on these 3.6Ls. What's the success rate of installing $2200 dollars worth of VVT parts and labor in these engines? Or is it better to quote a good rebuilt compete engine install? This car has 140K on it and seems to be well taken care of.

    Matt,

That is a very common issue. We've had great success with the GM valvetrain "kit". In this kit, we'll replace all 4 actuators, all chains/slides/tensioners and do an oil flush. Just watch your marks very closely, and a paint marker is your best friend.

    Best of Luck

Thank you Modis500. I ended up referring them to another shop do to being intimidated by the job. Next one comes in and I'll give it a try.
