    Snap-on please explain

I have an Audi and VW Specialist automotive shop in Cape Town South Africa.

We use Odis software and dealer tool Vas6154 for most diagnostic tasks. However we have had a Solus Ultra for 4 years for the quick tasks. Yesterday we upgraded to the Modis Edge as we were lead to believe that we will have access to Sure Track, cause and repair fixes, shopkey etc.

So we signed on the dotted line for the Modis Edge costing R105 000 includingtax and finance, (around $7240 US). Received the modis and tried to setup a shopkey account. No go as it asked for an authorization code which was meant to be included on the sales receipt, according to the user manual. Used the modis on a 2016 Golf 7 GTI with wifi connected etc as per the 222 page user manual which is online. It read fault codes but gave no sure track info, no cause and repair......nothing other than fault code and description of code.

Called Snap-On South Africa only to be told sorry there is no sure track for South Africa, no cause and repair, no oil specs and service resets, nothing other that Altus access.

No my question to Snap-On which claims to be the premium brand scan tool why would you sell us a $7000+ US scan tool which doesn't allow us access to the full package as found in other countries? Why mislead us into buying a scan tool which is basically an outrageously expensive code reader? Why put a 222 page user manual online stating it would have sure track assess knowing that we will not be able to access it for whatever reason. The reason that nobody at Snap-On can provide a straight answer?

We have bought over 1 million rands worth of your tools only to be screwed this way. Besides the modis having a scope it is basically allowing us to do the same job that our solus did for many years.

Sorry Snap-On but as a loyal supporter of the brand for many years you have let us down and we would like some honest answers from you or we will be returning the scan tool and buying a cheap 400$ Chinese scanner that will do the same job.

We are hoping that Snap-On is not going to give us the brush off and hope we go away but rather provide us with the access we paid for or collect your tool to sell off to some other naive shop.

    We shall await your reply.

          Hi Patrick,
I understand your frustration but unfortunately Shopkey Pro, SureTrack and oil specs and resets are only license to be used in North America.

Did the dealer specifically state that you will get Shopkey Pro, SureTrack and oil specs and resets? If this is the case can you tell me the name of the dealer that sold the Modis Edge it to you.

          Regards
          Jay
