    Buell support for P-1000

I have a P-1000 for motorcycles, they cover 98% of all bikes I have had through the shop, but don't see any support for Buell. Is there a trick to get the scanner to read the ECM on a Buell?

Think Buells are Harley Davidson powered so it's worth a shot trying to ID one as a Sporty 1200 I suppose. Maybe you need a jumper adapter and be in like Flint?

I just called tech support, at this time there is no Buell coverage. Unknown if this is a future consideration, however your need/want for it has been logged in their data base.

Do these scanners do only motorcycles, or are there also 4 wheeler and utility vehicle applications?

The P1000 has the full automotive scanner database in it as well as the street bike brands listed. No coverage for off road stuff.

Cool, Does the Domestic and Asian automotive software included require unlocking at additional cost, and then you need to pay another unlocking fee for the European car coverage?

No extra fee for using it or updating it. Just gotta have the cable to do it.

I hope they will consider the off road market - lot of potential business there.

If they added those, I'm afraid I'd have to pony up for yet another scanner.
If they changed their minds and offered the software for the zeus and verus, I'd probably do that anyway.

Same here, I already have the Harley adapter so it would be a good addition to my verus.

P1000 appears to be based off an Ethos Edge Tablet. Is the main cable pinout on the scanner end of the P1000 have a proprietary arrangement from a regular 16 pin serial data cable?
Is the cable you need to do cars on a P1000 $700 expense , or can one buy in an extended length from Cables ON Demand, that I've used on a MT2500 or Port Freight 08 with the 16pin OBD adapter on end ? Would one snagged off a harbor freight code scanner work (providing the 16 pin serial data pinout is arranged the same on each end of cable?

P1000 scanner connector is the same as all other Snap-on scanners.

I don't know the price of the adapters, but I believe they make up the majority of the cost of the unit.

                          You cannot buy generic adapters.
